I am a Witch

By Beverly Schmeler

I am a witch . I want to just be.
I hide nothing from prying eyes you see
I wear my long velvet cape and carry a staff
At the full moon I lift my eyes and arms to the sky in rapt
The craft has changed the inner me
I ask for the blessings of the Divine, my Lord & Lady you see
I am more at peace with the earth, in harmony
I am an example to live by, from me to you and back to me
The burning times shall never be again
For we are not the evil concrete
The evil you speak of was created by man not God
We worship nature by kneeling at her feet
We do not kneel in supplication
but in thanksgiving it is true
For we worship all with harm to none
Ever mindful of the three times rule
We ask for respect for the God & Goddess we adore
We have our own set of commandments to keep score
Our God is your God we worship the same way
Except our craft does not incite wars,
Killing is not our way
We do not harm anything, person, place or by action
We ask permission from the Oak when we want a piece of her
for some wooden contraption.
We know to tear a limb away would cause it pain
And for a witch, this would mean no gain
Be mindful of these words when you use your finger to laugh and point
We are all seeking love, knowledge and wisdom in this joint
We do our best everyday to be better people ...today
What more do you ask for?
When to your God you pray?
